The UNM men’s basketball team faced massive roster overhaul amid new age transfer portal.
The Lobos are experiencing one of the busiest off-seasons in recent program history, with a wave of players entering the transfer portal after former head coach Richard Pitino’s departure to Xavier. Here’s a breakdown of who’s out, where they’re headed, and who’s still on the market:

Braden Appelhans – Committed to Drake
Appelhans appeared in 31 games this season, averaging 3.3 points off the bench. He posted a season-high 18 points in a win over Western New Mexico. After three years in Albuquerque, the 6-foot-7 guard announced his commitment to Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa via social media.
Quinton Webb – Committed to Cal State Northridge (CSUN)

Webb redshirted his first season with the Lobos and played in 32 games over the next two years. He averaged 1.4 points and 1.1 rebounds in limited action. He heads to CSUN with two years of eligibility remaining.

Filip Borovicanin – Committed to Xavier

Borovicanin, a 6-foot-9 Serbian forward, started 29-of-35 games in 2024-25. He averaged 5.9 points and 4.6 rebounds. Borovicanin posted a combined 12 points and 12 rebounds in New Mexico’s two NCAA Tournament games in Cleveland. He become Xavier’s first transfer addition of the offseason.
Kayde Dotson – Committed to Loyola Chicago

As a freshman, Dotson played in 32 games, contributing 2.3 points in just under 7 minutes per game. He committed to Loyola Chicago after entering the transfer portal.
Jovan Milicevic – Committed to Xavier

Milicevic, a 6-foot-10 freshman forward, followed Pitino to Xavier. He played in 34 games, starting three, and averaged 3.8 points and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 45.8% from three-point range.
Tru Washington – Committed to Miami

Washington was a key piece for the Lobos in 2024-25. He averaged 11.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. He ranked third in the Mountain West Conference in steals. With two years of eligibility left, he’ll now suit up for the Hurricanes.

Donovan Dent – Committed to UCLA

Dent, the Mountain West Player of the Year, averaged 20.6 points and 6.4 assists per game, becoming the first player since Ja Morant to post 600+ points and 200+ assists in a single season. After three years at UNM, the California native returns home to play for UCLA. Dent played at Centennial High School with current Bruins Eric Freeny and Devin Williams and Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jared McCain.

Ibrahima Sacko – In Transfer Portal (Uncommitted)

Sacko appeared in limited minutes this past season, averaging 1.2 points and 1.2 rebounds in six minutes per game. He remains uncommitted.
Daniel Thomas – In Transfer Portal (Uncommitted)

Thomas, a 6-foot-8 forward/center from Dallas, redshirted last season and has yet to announce a new destination.
